Hey everyone! Sorry that I’ve been on a little hiatus since the last post, but I definitely have good news for you! The Eagle Rock Music Festival is going to happen this Saturday, October 1st from 4pm-11pm on Colorado Blvd between Argus and Eagle Rock Blvd. Supposedly, this festival is free with “a $5 donation.” But what the heck, Health, Nosaj Thing, Rooney, and Flying Lotus all for $5. I’m down!

Hey all! Alright so here’s the scoop, my interview with Nosaj Thing is being delayed. I was scheduled to interview him before his set at FYF but after some communication errors with his publicist (she wasn’t picking up her phone -____-) I am going to be doing a phone interview with him soon, and don’t worry I will still be posting it!

That being said, his set at FYF was fucking badass. I’ve always admired his musical skill, but to see it live front row and center was just unreal. All the acts that night were great, but I gotta say Nosaj Thing and Death From Above 1979 really stole the show for me.

Nosaj Thing is an electronic artist similar in style to Flying Lotus. His most recognizable beat is “Aquarium,” also known as the beat Kid Cudi used for his song “Man on the Moon.”

Why am I telling you this? Good fucking question!

The reasoning behind it is that I’m getting an opportunity to interview Nosaj Thing at FYF Fest this Saturday. It is for my college’s newspaper, however I will also be posting some (or perhaps all of it) on this blog as well :)

Pretty tits, right? Hell yeah!

Don’t forget to by your ticket to FYF Fest! It’s coming up in three weeks on Labor Day weekend. Should you pay $35 to see great bands like Death From Above, Explosions in the Sky, Broken Social Scene, No Age, etc? Fuccckk yeahh (fest) :)

On the side note: Did you know that FYF means Fuck Yeah Fest? But people always say FYF Fest. So would it be Fuck Yeah Fest Fest? What?

Last weekend was one of many epic weekends. So much music filled the air for me and day and night was concert after concert. I will explain in 3…2…1…

Thursday, Aug 4th

The Sounds gave a memorable show at the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach. However, the crowd epically SUCKED. Many didn’t even know who The Sounds were but continued to push the audience around. But Maja Ivaarson is one sexy woman I will say that. Oh yeah, did I mention that a girl was shoving her ass sideways so that I wouldn’t get in the way? What is the problem if I’m next to you. Fucking bitch. Die.

Friday, Aug 5th

I saw Katy Perry at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles! I’m not even into that type of music, but Katy Perry puts on a mean show. To be honest, her music is catchy even though the songs are about the craziest things. She is a terrific entertainer and I would love to see her again.

Saturday, Aug 6th

My late afternoon was reserved for Surfer Blood and MGMT at the US Open of Surfing. Surfer Blood was greatly under-appreciated and the crowd wanted them out. I loved them and I felt that they should have had more respect since they are a beach-rock genre. MGMT was also great too. It was nice to hear them, and their songs were quite an ear-full. It was a great end to the US Open.

Round two! After MGMT, I went to Hard Summer in Los Angeles. I arrived late (9 pm) and caught the last part of Ratatat. I wished I saw there entire show because the bit I was able to see was great. After that, I watched Chromeo and Duck Sauce. Both were great shows, and Duck Sauce was the most dancable band of the night. However, Skrillex stole my heart. All and all, it was a great experience.

Pomona Warped Tour Review

This became my 5th consecutive Warped Tour and my little aging body is starting to lose it’s resistance to the crowds. Just kidding, I’m still young. Warped Tour was actually pretty good although it had some faults. I thought the lineup was okay, there was some very great bands but I felt that A Day to Remember should have headlined. They were scheduled for 2:00 pm at the mainstage which I thought was very odd. What I really loved was the crowd. No was was too douchy and I thought the people there was awesome. Many of the bands I wanted to see played at the same time so I ended up skipping around. There were only a few bands I stayed for and they had amazing sets. I think that there should have been a headliner this year instead of having 4 bands play at the last set. It was also too quick to end; Warped Tours years before had headliners around 9 or 10 but I think 8 o’clock was too early. I think fans should stop by Warped Tour; it was definitely a nice experience this year. I wasn’t as great as other years, but I still enjoyed my time.

Bands that I caught were Attack Attack, Hellogoodbye, Enter Shikari, Dance Gavin Dance, A Day to Remember, Unwritten Law, The Devil Wears Prada, and Moving Mountains,

Best Coast fans! Some of you may know about this so I’m just going to refresh your memory. The Getty Museum is hosting Best Coast for their Saturdays Off the 405. And the Best Part? It’s free! The show will last from 6 pm to 9 pm. Parking is free after 5 pm, but if you want to come earlier it’s $15. What? Okay come after 5 pm guys.

The US Open of Surf is coming to Huntington Beach, CA in July and August! With this prestigious competition comes three great concerts, each that will blow your mind. The shows will start on Thursday, August 4th, and end on Saturday, August 6th. By the way, the lineup is greattttttt. Great? Great as in The Sounds on Thursday, Jimmy Eat World and Dead Country on Friday, and MGMT and Surfer Blood on Saturday. Fuck yeah we will be there! So will you!

It’s confirmed! Our suspicions of the lineup are true and FYF fest 2011 will be held on September 3rd. Performances include DFA1979, Broken Social Scene, Explosions in the Sky, Smith Westerns, Four Tet, No Age, Japandroids, Cold War Kids, and many others. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 17th, for $35. We’re definitely going and hope to see you guys there!

FYF Fest is back! Coming soon in 2011. Are you excited? We are! Last year was pretty fun. We got to see musicians like Panda Bear, Wavves, Best Coast, and Titus Andronicus. Awesome. But NOW, 2011, six people have been announced so far:
